MALE APPLICANTS
Born between 2007 – 2014
YOUNGER APPLICANTS
Applicants born in 2015 or 2016 may also apply if they are ready and able to prepare appropriately for the audition.
WHO CAN APPLY & HOW TO PREPARE
Both DSJ students and external applicants within the eligible age ranges are welcome to apply.
DSJ students: Please read the DSJ Perspective before applying; younger students need to submit a video.
External applicants: A video is required. Submitting an application does not guarantee participation. Please check the application timeline for details
About Video Requirements
We require some applicants to upload a video or provide a link to an existing video showcasing one of their strongest talents. The video should be 30–60 seconds. The video does not need to feature the same content you plan to present at the audition. Please see below for details:
CURRENT DSJ STUDENTS
• Current DSJ students within the main age ranges do not need to submit a video.
• DSJ students born in 2015 or 2016 are required to submit the video so that our instructors can review their preparation and readiness. (This is simply to understand their preparation and commitment, not to evaluate their technical skill.)
EXTERNAL APPLICANTS
• All external applicants, including both older and younger applicants, are required to submit a video to help us get to know the applicant more.
AUDITION CATEGORY
Choose one or multiple categories that best showcase your talent, with 1–2 minutes for each category.
VOCAL
Sing a song a cappella (without background music).
DANCE
Prepare your own music (AR) and choreography.
DSJ dancers may use choreography learned at DSJ or create your own (including covers or original choreography).
ACTING
Prepare a free performance: scene, monologue or improvisation.
VISUAL
Prepare a brief special skill, such as singing or stage walking with poses.
No professional modeling experience is required. The casting team will observe your overall appearance and presence during the audition.
INSTRUMENTS
Prepare a short performance on your instrument. Bring your own instrument.
ABOUT THE AUDITION PROCESS
This Academy Audition is the first stage of FNC Entertainment’s audition process. Applicants who move forward may be invited to an additional online audition, followed by further auditions as necessary.
As FNC Entertainment has emphasized, this is only the first stage of the audition process and an opportunity for their casting team to meet and get to know more young talent in Calgary. Applicants are encouraged to participate without feeling too much pressure.
APPLICATION PROCESS & TIMELINE
1. BEFORE APPLICATION: Read all audition information above and check Q&A if you have additional questions before applying.
2. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION: complete the FNC × DSJ Academy Audition Application Form to apply.
3. EXTERNAL APPLICANT CONFIRMATION: For external applicants, submitting an application does not guarantee participation. Confirmed external applicants will be contacted by email on a rolling basis beginning October 1 and continuing until the application deadline. We encourage you to apply as early as possible if you are interested. If you do not receive a confirmation email by the application deadline, your application has not been confirmed for this audition.

5. BEFORE THE AUDITION
Confirmed applicants will receive further information regarding arrival, check-in, and other event-day details before November 2.

Academy Audition Q&A
01 — Do I need to be a DSJ student to apply?
No. External applicants are welcome to apply. Please note that all external applicants are required to submit a 30–60 second video, and submitting an application does not guarantee participation.
02 — Can I audition for more than one category?
Yes. You may audition in more than one category. Please prepare approximately 1–2 minutes for each category you choose.
03 — Does my video need to be professionally filmed?
No. Professional filming or editing is not required. A simple, clear recording is perfectly fine. You may upload a video or provide a link to an existing video. We are interested in seeing your preparation and talent — not the production quality of the video. The video is not part of the FNC Entertainment audition
04 — Does my video need to show the same content I plan to perform at the audition?
No. You don’t have to use the same content. Your 30–60 second video can simply showcase one of your strongest talents.
05 — What should I bring to the audition?
Please bring anything required for your chosen audition category. Dance applicants should have their music ready, and instrument applicants should bring their own instrument. Additional arrival and check-in details will be provided to confirmed applicants before the audition.
06 — What should I wear to the audition?
Wear something comfortable, neat, and appropriate for your audition category. Choose clothing that allows you to perform confidently and move comfortably. Please bring clean indoor shoes.
07 — Can parents or guardians watch the audition?
Parents and guardians may accompany applicants to the venue, but the audition itself will be conducted with the applicants and the FNC casting team. Further waiting-area and check-in details will be provided before the audition.
08 — Who decides the audition results?
All audition results are determined solely by the FNC Entertainment Casting Team. DSJ Dance Studio hosts and coordinates the Calgary audition but is not involved in FNC’s casting decisions.
